It was a Fabulous Weekend at the Funky Junk Sisters Antique Show & Flea Market

The trailer is hitched, we're packed to the brim, John's got his coffee so here we go on our next adventure . . . Funky Junk Sisters Antique Show and Flea Market.

It all started when I committed to a booth at a little show in Puyallup, WA called the Funky Junk Sisters Antique Show & Flea Market. I know now that I had no clue what I was getting myself into. With lots of encouragement from family and friends, I took the plunge to dream up what my 8x8 booth would look like. For all of you who know me, I LOVE CoLoR. So I stayed true to Tippy Stockton and went with my signature robin's egg blue and then my mind wandered from there. During a recent visit to the nursery, I kept seeing these great ORANGE gerbera daisies. Hmmmm orange; brought back memories of my orange counter tops and shag carpet, but okay - I've had a run on some great orange beads, so why not!!! So voila . . . robin's egg blue and orange!!! And oh what fun that was. So the building began. In an earlier post I had mentioned how I was stressed, okay freaking out because I didn't really have a lot of furniture to create walls in my booth and not knowing who my neighbor vendor would be, I really felt like I needed to construct something that I could at least hang a curtain on. My next door neighbors, who are more like family to John and I jumped in with loads of ideas and manpower. Jerry, the master carpenter and "I can do anything guy", got busy with John's support (mostly moral) and they built me a frame that would become my booth. It worked out so great, albeit a little stress trying to figure out how we could hold up four posts when it was just John and I setting up. So luck would have it - we backed up to a chain link fence so we bungied the two back posts to that and off we went finishing the booth. Judy, Jerry's wife and my Saturday partner at the show jumped in with a brilliant idea using a louvered screen constructed with our old bedroom door, cut in half and then stripped with shim material. OMG - couldn't be any more wonderful as it became my favorite display in the whole entire booth. Thanks Judy, you're a genious! Here's a few pics to peruse - hope you can see how fun this was!
Welcome everyone . . .

Even beautiful Pearl was all dressed up for the party!!! She is sporting a beautiful crown compliments of my booth neighbor, Debi from Garden Party in Snohomish, WA.

Chandelier, garden luminaries . . .

My favorite display - I'm easy to please. An old rake (who would have thought) used as a shelf to show off my cute French apothecary bottles and beautiful necklaces.
The bedroom louvered door was quite a hit!

Garden luminaries, up close!

Lot's and lot's of gorgeous earrings!

And another huge display of beauties . . .

Tip top display!

and the whole darn thing!

The one word to describe my weekend . . . HAPPY!!!

I just can't say how much fun this show was. It was my first, and definitely won't be my last, that's for sure. Thank you to Linda and Dixie, the Funky Junk Sisters for the invite; Amy, Kris and Wendy from Today's Country Store for their encouragement and kindness; Todd, for your vision on how the booth should look; Jerry and Judy - Wow, not sure how to thank you for all the time and effort this past week before the show and Judy for coming and assisting me at the booth on Saturday, and finally, last, but not least, John and Kellan for putting up with me as I stressed to stitch, wire wrap, bead, stuff and fluff in the past month - I promise I will start cooking again. Thank you all - you made this possible for me in so many ways to have a fantastic show and meet some amazing people. I will write more about the people I met on a later post because I met some really great folks. Here's to next year . . .

  1. 'Tippy', I think your booth was one of the best at the Funky Junk Sisters show! Applause, Applause!

I just loved it all, and with your permission I'd like to feature my photos of your great ideas on my design blog later this week. I am still shocked that this was your first show ever - but then, you did have a secret weapon in Todd Waddell on your side!

I'm so glad we met and I hope we see each other again soon....
