A Day like no Other . . .

I wouldn't be so quick to tout yet another birthday, but this year is different for a variety of reasons. When I picked up the mail yesterday, there was a large envelope filled with a few things; some were not a surprise to me, but there was one thing in this little package that brought me to tears. My Mom's cousin Ellen has been clearing out her home in PA getting ready for a big move. Her husband Joe passed away a few months ago and she is moving closer to her children. I can only imagine the memories that have flooded her world in the past few weeks. She called me last week to let me know that she had found some things of my Mom's - a Weight Watchers Diet Guide from the early 60's. Nothing fancy, but it had notes written in the margins in my Mom's beautiful handwriting. But the other thing in this envelope is what rocked my world on the day before my birthday - it was MY birth announcement that my parents sent out to herald the birth of their firstborn daughter. You see, both my parents passed away in the past year and as my brothers and I went through Mom and Dad's belongings we never found baby books for any of us. I kind of knew there wouldn't be - Mom had given me treasures of my childhood in bits and pieces. Things like report cards, immunization records, special notes and art projects that I had done as a child. Things I have always treasured. But this little card as shown above is the thing that I will treasure forever now. I never knew it even existed. Wow! So as I celebrate my birthday today with my family and friends, I relish the 48 birthdays that I had with my folks, mourn the fact that they are not here today to share this special day with me, and honor and thank them for the most wonderful years we did have together. Happy Birthday to you Mom and Dad for bringing me into this most amazing life!!!

It's Beginning to look a lot like . . .

Kellan - Halloween 1989.
Okay, okay. So I know that today is Halloween, but I just can't help myself. You see, I really am not a fan of Halloween. I'm not going to go into the details, but I was scared to death at a school carnival when I was a child and ever since then . . . well I just don't like Halloween. I'm trying to be nice to all of you who love this Holiday. But for me, this just means that we are even closer to the Holiday that makes my heart sing . . . Christmas! Have I told you that I love CHRISTMAS! I love Christmas - I love cooking, baking, entertaining and especially decorating our little cottage. Oh and one more thing, I LOVE Christmas music. Yes, I have already listened to a CD or two, or three, well okay 5. It was purely for inspiration, I swear!!!
So today, I thought I would give you a peek at some of what happened with that "inspiration". Here's a little sample of some of the things that have already made it to the website. Trust me, there will be plenty more. Happy Holidays to you!!!

I Love Pink . . .

I LOVE Pink . . . and a lot of it. The Funky Junk Sisters Antique Show and Flea Market was decked out in every shade of pink imagineable. The boa's were flaunted, and the feathers were flying on Friday night as the show opened to a blustery wind and a long line of eager shoppers. Debi Kennedy of Retreat was the pink tree designer extraordinaire. She did an amazing job on this gorgeous Pink Christmas tree - tickets were sold for a drawing to benefit Breast Cancer Research and "Save the Ta Ta's". Congrats to the lucky winner!

Pearl was all decked out in Pink for the Party!!!
Lot's of Jewels and pretty bejeweled boxes.

A bevy of pillows with Holiday Greetings - can you say Merry Christmas in French??? Why yes I can . . . Joyeux Noel! and Italian . . . Buon Natale!!!

Earrings for every occasion.

Say it with flowers and fruit!!!

A sweet and lovely girly-girl lamp and custom made lampshade!!!

Vintage ornaments, and sparkly stars!

Holiday vases to brighten up your windowsill.

Another cheerful and lovely display.

This is Betty - she's from "3 Sassy Tartes". I couldn't resist taking her picture since she looks like she belongs with my booth. Oh, my gosh and how cute is she. My very own Carol Merrill!!!

TA DA!!!

My sweet helpers . . . John on the left (hubby, shoulder rubber, and all around great sport), and Todd (eye candy is his specialty - master display dude)

And my best girl Judy! Give her any project and she'll get it done.
I couldn't have done this show without all of the help of my good friends and family. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say Hello. I know the traffic was terrible and the weather was dreadful, but for all of the die hard Vintage Junkers, Thank YOU!!!

It's Show Time

It seems like just yesterday that I loaded up the trailer to head to my first Funky Junk Sisters Show last June. Well, it's that time again - the loading has started, the glitter is flying, and the anticipation is building. I keep telling myself that this is hard work, but the minute I enter the Show, I know it's all worth it. To hear a bunch of Vintage Junk Crazy Ladies buzzing - it doesn't get any better.
We're heading south tonight to drop off the load, then it's up and out early Friday morning for set-up. I have my road crew with me; John, my sweet helper, cohort, and master set builder, Judy, my lovely neighbor who is always laden with ideas, set display extraordinaire, and Todd, he's on the beautification team. With lots of hands, we should be done in plenty of time to don our pink shirts and get the Show started.
Friday Night is a Breast Cancer benefit called, "Save the TA TA's". Grab a few of your best girlfriends and head out to Puyallup for a really fun evening. Many of the vendors, including me, will be handing out discount coupons for the evening. The Sisters will be selling tickets for the big drawing - a chance to win a gorgeous, already decorated Christmas Tree. There will be food a'plenty, and oh so much FUN!!!
Saturday is an early start for all of us, including you early birds. The doors open at 8:00am sharp for all of you who want to get the best pickins. We finish up on Saturday at 6:00pm.
For all of you who can't attend this amazing show, my websites are both open. They are full of some gorgeous things to kick start the Holiday Season. I'll be shipping on Monday, October 26.

Tippy Stockton does Spring, Texas

Awhile back, I was contacted by a sweet young lady named Brandy. She is the owner of B-Persnickety, a Paper Boutique specializing in Wedding Invitations, gifts, and other delightful goodies. She asked if I might consider selling my jewelry at her brand new store. It took me a few seconds to close my mouth, collect my thoughts and give her a resounding "YES". So I sent her off a box of jewels (getting ready to send another box this week) and you might say the rest is history. If you ever find yourself in Spring, Texas, please stop in and say hello to Brandy and check out my collection of jewelry in person.

For the next few weeks, I will be highlighting shops around the country that are featuring my jewelry and other products. I'm so excited to say that I am now being featured in 11 (yes, that's eleven) shops. I couldn't be more thrilled and excited.

The Final Blog Giveaway goes to . . .

I've had a crazy couple of days and I know that I usually post the results of the contest on Friday. Okay, okay it's Saturday. So the winner is . . . Jill!

I want to thank everyone who participated in the Blog Giveaway. This was a fun event for me as well because it increased my customer base (I hope) by a few more people. I hope that you will continue to visit my Blog, Website, Facebook, Twitter . . . I think that is all of the social networks that I am a part of. Whew!!! I also wanted to give you a little sneak peek at some of the things that I have busy creating for my upcoming shows. You can see I tucked Jill's ticket in a little pumpkin shaped gift box. Perfect for Thanksgiving and will go straight into Christmas.

I will have a very busy week making preparations for the big show next weekend - The Funky Junk Sisters Antique Show and Flea Market. Come check out the Show - rumored to be the best show in the West for the kick-off to the Holiday Season. I hope to check back in during the week. For now, have a good evening and Congratulations Jill! Call, write, e-mail, convo, post a note on FB, Twitter me - just get ahold of me Jill so we can chat about your Gift Certificate. Oh, and if anyone knows June, she won last week and still haven't heard from her. Might just have to pick another name . . .
