BUY HANDMADE, BUY AMERICAN!

I came across this very poignant post by a friend this week. It's about the birth of a new tradition for this Holiday season. Everytime we turn around these days we're reminded about how awful our economy is, how people have lost their jobs and in some cases their business. I feel very blessed to be able to continue to create jewelry in my little Studio here on Cedar St. But for some reason, this Christmas Season is different . . . how? Well, for one, I am vowing to buy American made goods. The only way we can get our GREAT Country back on track again is to stop supporting things that are imported here from overseas.

(an excerpt from Heart Vintage Design in Mount Dora, FL)
"As the holidays approach, the giant Asian factories are kicking into high gear to provide Americans with monstrous piles of cheaply produced goods - merchandise that has been produced at the expense of American labor. This year should be different. This year Americans need to give the gift of genuine concern for other Americans. There is no longer an excuse that, at gift giving time, nothing can be found that is produced by American hands. Yes there is!

You see, Christmas is no longer about draining American pockets so that China can build another glittering city. Christmas is now about caring about US, encouraging American small businesses to keep plugging away to follow their dreams. And when we care about other Americans, we care about our communities and the benefits come back to us in ways we couldn't imagine. THIS is the new American Christmas tradition. May it be your tradition as well."

AMEN to this. Wouldn't you be more inclined to buy a gift from someone who you knew was building a dream; a dream of having a prosperous, AMERICAN company. Let's all work together folks and create the America that our parents knew and loved.
