It's a HOLIDAY Giveaway

Yup, that's right!  It's my birthday . . . on Monday, November 18.  I came into the world on a cloudy day in West Islip, New York.  It was a joyful day as I was the firstborn child to my parents, Patrick (Joe), and Ann (Betty) Kelly.  Even though I think my Daddy really wanted a boy, I was the apple of his eye, his Patty Ann.  Through the years, my Mom always made MY day special - she would make these crazy chocolate kiss corsages that had coins and dollar bills dangling off of it.  I remember being embarrassed the first time I wore it to school on my birthday thinking that my friends would think I was a dork, but it soon passed when they all asked my Mom to make one for them.  I love that memory.

So let's have a GIVEAWAY - what better way to celebrate my birthday than by giving you all a shot at winning some fabulous prizes.  And right before Christmas and all . . .
on Monday, I'll be giving away (2) $50 shop credits and (1) $100 credit to be used any way you like, just as long as you use it before 12/31/13.

Here's how we're going to do it.  Write your favorite birthday memory here, and pick one of the following collages as your favorite by simply answering with the corresponding letter - A, B, C, etc.

Again, here's the details:  To enter: Leave a comment on this blog answering "What is your favorite Birthday memory, and pick a favorite of the photos above?"

(for additional entries: Tweet this, Facebook it, become a follower of this blog (http://tippystocktonblog.blogspot.com/) or my Tippy Stockton Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/TippyStocktonJewelry?ref=hl) or Pin one of the above images to pinterest. Please leave additional comments for each thing you do.)

Okay so, READY, SET, GO!  Happy Birthday!  xo

BUY HANDMADE, BUY AMERICAN!

I came across this very poignant post by a friend this week. It's about the birth of a new tradition for this Holiday season. Everytime we turn around these days we're reminded about how awful our economy is, how people have lost their jobs and in some cases their business. I feel very blessed to be able to continue to create jewelry in my little Studio here on Cedar St. But for some reason, this Christmas Season is different . . . how? Well, for one, I am vowing to buy American made goods. The only way we can get our GREAT Country back on track again is to stop supporting things that are imported here from overseas.

(an excerpt from Heart Vintage Design in Mount Dora, FL)
"As the holidays approach, the giant Asian factories are kicking into high gear to provide Americans with monstrous piles of cheaply produced goods - merchandise that has been produced at the expense of American labor. This year should be different. This year Americans need to give the gift of genuine concern for other Americans. There is no longer an excuse that, at gift giving time, nothing can be found that is produced by American hands. Yes there is!

You see, Christmas is no longer about draining American pockets so that China can build another glittering city. Christmas is now about caring about US, encouraging American small businesses to keep plugging away to follow their dreams. And when we care about other Americans, we care about our communities and the benefits come back to us in ways we couldn't imagine. THIS is the new American Christmas tradition. May it be your tradition as well."

AMEN to this. Wouldn't you be more inclined to buy a gift from someone who you knew was building a dream; a dream of having a prosperous, AMERICAN company. Let's all work together folks and create the America that our parents knew and loved.

HO HO HO Happy HOLIDAY Giveaway

Well, it's the morning after . . . yes, IT has arrived!!! HOLIDAY by Matthew Mead was on my doorstep yesterday morning. I can't quite explain to you how excited I was to open this "Bookazine" and see what Matthew and his crew have been furiously working on for months. It was their baby, and wow what a beautiful baby it is. GORGEOUS!!! This is NOT a magazine - the paper alone tells you the love that was involved in putting this together. It's thick and has a beautiful hand, like a lovely piece of fabric. The photography is amazing! The stories . . . well, lets just say, they are perfect in every way.

The other reason I was so excited to receive my copy was because I was chosen to be featured in this inaugural magazine. Tippy Stockton's Noel Bracelet is proudly featured. I have had many pinch me moments this past year, and I have to say, this one is pretty exciting.

Not only have I been featured, but I have been blessed with having had the opportunity to meet Matthew and his wife Jenny. I think it's safe to say that our friendship will continue long after the Holidays are over. To know Matthew is a gift - this man is so sincere, charming, kind and uber talented!!! Thank you!

So, let's have a giveaway! Share a favorite Christmas memory. I will pick one lucky winner to receive a copy of HOLIDAY by Matthew Mead. I will pick a random winner next week, Thursday, November 18 (which happens to be my birthday).

There isn't a page in this lovely "bookazine" that you're not going to love! Good luck everyone!

Who goes on Vacation right before the kick-off to Holiday Season

My in-laws, who enjoyed many years of their timeshare unit in California are no longer able to travel, so John and I were the recipients of this amazing gift. Last Summer we traveled to Ft. Lauderdale, and this year we decided on Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I grew up on the East Coast, in New York. I have always loved the beaches along the Atlantic. White sugary sands, gentle waves, it doesn't get any better. We arrived in Myrtle Beach just in time to see a beautiful sunset last Saturday. But it's the sunrise that is so amazing to me. Because we now live on the West Coast, the Sunsets are what we look forward to. The sunrise over the Atlantic is incredible - it's the beginning of the day for our United States. As you gaze across the water, it's hard to imagine that across that big pond is another world . . . Europe. It just makes me have such an appreciation for our Universe.

It seemed a little crazy to me to go away on the eve of the Holiday Season, but I can honestly tell you that I have done nothing but relax, read, hang out at the beach (and yes I did get sunburnt), and dine at some of the best Seafood restaurants on the Atlantic Ocean. I know that I will be in a much better mood when I get back home - ready for the season of hustle and bustle.

Next week, my much awaited feature in Matthew Mead's HOLIDAY magazine will be hitting homes all across the country. I hope that means that Tippy Stockton is going to be busy filling orders for good little girls near and far. With Christmas music already uploaded onto my IPOD, I wish you Happy Holidays from Myrtle Beach!

Tippy's Textiles in Atlanta???

Well, not really. Here's the scoop. Twas the day before Thanksgiving, while I was scurrying around getting packages shipped off, glittering boxes, wirewrapping bracelets, peeling potatoes, preparing pumpkin pies, chopping onions, etc., etc., etc., I was contacted by Amy from ETSY in NYC. She was calling to let me know that the Atlanta Journal Constitution newspaper had selected my "Joyeux Noel" Pillow to be featured in their Holiday Gift Guides Section of the newspaper. What did you say? You want WHAT? Who, me, you want my pillow? Of all the thousands, perhaps millions of items listed on ETSY, and you want my pillow??? Well, okay then! So I scrambled to get a good quality photo off to Amy, and promptly got back to my pies.

I didn't hear back from Amy after the long weekend and I kept checking on-line to see if I could find anything about my pillow. Nothing :( I received a note from a fellow ETSYian in Atlanta letting me know she saw my pillow on the Front Page of the paper. Wahoo!!! She said she would send me a copy of the paper.

So, it's back to the real world. I'm continuing to create beautiful jewelry, crochet like a mad woman, and package and mail out my shipments. It's not too late to shop. Delivery deadlines start to get in the way in a couple of weeks. Today I'm headed to Haley's Cottage in Mill Creek for their Holiday Open House. I'll be there from 3:00-8:00pm. Stop in, say hello! Here's the address: 15021 Main Street, #E, Mill Creek, WA 98012 (just across the street from LA Fitness)

Next Friday, December 11 is my 4th Annual Holiday Boutique here at my home. Here's the address: 948 Cedar Street, Edmonds, Wa 98020 5:00-9:00pm. Share an evening with friends, sip on some wine and have a nosh or two. Can't wait to see you all there!
Take some time and enjoy all the blessings of this Holiday Season. Treasure the time with your family and friends; create new memories! Have a lovely weekend!

Black Friday is History, but there's always Cyber Monday

Black Friday came and went. Were you one of the early risers out there looking for great deals? I can honestly say that I have never done that. There's nothing like sleeping in a little longer after a long day of eating, drinking, playing games, watching movies. Sleep in, a little coffee, get the Christmas boxes out of the attic and get going on decorating the cottage. So, in just a couple of days, Cyber Monday descends on all of us. Since this is my first year with a website, I'm not sure that I even know what to expect, but I did decide to jump in with the rest of the world and offer some discounts for all of you to get your Christmas shopping started. Over at www.tippystockton.etsy.com, I'm offering a 10% discount on your entire order + free shipping. I have sooooo many lovely pieces available right now. I'll be listing a few more in the next couple of weeks, so always check back. That's just a sample of the things that are available.

Then over at www.tippystextilesnstuff.etsy.com, I'm offering a 10% discount on your entire order. I have lovely scarves in a bevy of colors, sweet little decorated boxes (they have been the hit of the season), vases, wands, pillows . . . My Joyeux Noel pillow was featured in the Atlanta Journal Constitution Gift Guides this weekend. How fun is that?
I have just a couple of more shows left before I can relax, well sort of. I'll post later the details on those upcoming shows, one of which includes my own Holiday Open House. So you can guess what I am doing on this Thanksgiving weekend. Yes, you guessed it. The cottage is getting glittered up, the stockings will be hung, the outside lights are up and lit. Christmas is definitely here! Hip hip Hooray!!! I love Christmas! Cheers and blessings to all of you!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

I know this post is a little late. I have so many things to be thankful for . . . family, friends, a lovely home, food in my cupboards, and a little business that is humming along. I hope that you had the opportunity to slow down a bit, enjoy the day with the people that mean so much to you, and feel grateful for all that you have. I know I did. Wishing you all the blessings of this wonderful Holiday and may the upcoming Christmas Season be blessed with love, joy and happiness.
